Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate mothers' reactions to bedmaking. The reality and flexibility of mothers' expectations as they view their childrens' performance in the household task of bedmaking, was also investigated. The objectives of the study were: (1) To identify the child's performance as viewed by the mother, as it varies by age, sex, number of years of bedmaking experience, the bed itself, and how the task was learned; (2) To identify mothers' expectations about each child's performance, by age and sex; (3) To investigate the reality of the mothers' expectations by comparing them with the child's performance; (4) To determine the mothers' efforts to bring about congurence between her expectations and the childs' performance (flexibility).
