Abstract

Increasing numbers of employed mothers and single-parent families, coupled with economic factors that force adolescent and adult members of a household to be wage-earners, are causing day care facilities to be in great demand. Due to a shortage of facilities across America, many employers are meeting the child care needs of their employees by providing day care sponsored through one or more of the following methods: 1) on-site centers, 2) off-site centers, 3) assistance to existing facilities, 4) subsidies and reimbursements and 5) nonprofit corporations.
