Abstract
The martial arts have often been considered in the Western world as an example of Oriental showmanship and weaponless fighting. This thesis attempts to bring together the various facets of Tae Kwon Do, including the historical, philosophical, conditioning and educational aspects. The martial arts have a long history. During that time, there has evolved elaborate concepts of etiquette, artistic elements, philosophical concepts of the respect for other people, bodily conditioning and the development of self-concept.
