Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine how sophomores in the general population of Obion County Central High School judged themselves with regard to body satisfaction. This study was accomplished using a survey, which portrayed nine different figures representing a range of sizes. Another purpose of the study was to judge the accuracy of the perceptions of these students when body mass index and weights were compared to their perceived images. A question in the survey was asked about the body shapes of the participants' parents; a comparison was made with the image of the student and each parent for difference. [continues]
