Abstract

Whole language is a term that is heard more and more in the field of education. It is a philosophy of teaching and of learning. Today, many kindergarten teachers are creating whole language classrooms. However, in rural areas it is sometimes difficult to receive new knowledge of practices in education. The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which characteristics of whole language were being practiced by kindergarten teachers in Weakley County, Tennessee. [continued]
